EDITOR'S UPDATE
Before previewing our issue, I'm pleased to announce that Cichlid News now has its own home on the net. You can visit our site at www.cichlidnewsmagazine.com anytime of the day or night. Though still in its infancy, the site allows you to review the contents of both our current and past issues, will provide a peek at what's coming up in future issues, and from time to time will offer special sales and discounts on both Cichlid News and our other products. Of course, prices, availabilities, and ordering information for our complete line of books and posters can also be found there. So, check it out, and let us know what you think; e-mail your comments and suggestions to comments@cichlidnews.com

In this issue, we continue our coverage of two separate, but equally interesting topics. First, Ad Konings, our "virtual tour guide" for Lake Malawi, takes us to Minos Reef in Mozambique. In addition to being the best place to find red zebras, Metriaclima estherae, the site offers perhaps the top conditions for observation (for snorkellers and divers alike) in the lake. Then, we jump to South America where Vinny Kutty leads us through a review of the so-called "spangled pikes" of the Crenicichla saxatilis group; now these look like fishes with real personalities! In our (constant) effort to provide a bit of "something for everyone," we again shift hemispheres, returning to the Old World, first for an article by Frederic Potvin on the "dayglow fulu," an endemic haplochromine from Lake Kanyaboli, a small "satellite" of Lake Victoria in Kenya. Then we shift to the "Red Island" of Madagascar for a report by Sonia Guinane on the tsipoy, Ptychochromis nossibeensis, a recent addition to the hobby. Finally, Ron Coleman takes a closer look at the diversity and intricacies of behaviors associated with "nesting" in cichlids. And as always, lots of photos in What's New to close things out. So enjoy, and don't forget to take a peek at the web site.
